Acne Removal Secrets

Anyone who suffers from acne is probably eagerly looking for a way to get rid of it. But are there any truly effective methods of acne removal? Acne is a chronic condition with no actual cure, but it can definitely be treated, and effectively so. As far as whether safe and easy acne removal is possible, this largely depends on the type of acne you are dealing with. Here are some facts about when and how safe and easy acne removal is possible.

Acne Removal for Blackheads

Blackheads are those black bumps that protrude from the skin that almost look like dirt that you can’t wash off. They often appear on the nose or the back of the neck. They are uncomfortable and unsightly. Fortunately, they are also a great candidate for safe and easy acne removal. Acne removal is performed using a blackhead extractor. The reason blackheads look the way they do is that the tips are exposed to the skin, causing oxidation, which turns them black. Since they come out of the skin, all that is needed is a tool to pull them all the way out. A blackhead extruder is used for this purpose. After the skin is heated, the tool hooks around the blackhead and simply pulls it out. You should allow a trained professional to do this for you for the safest, easiest removal.

Acne Removal for Scars

Scar acne removal is a little more complicated. The safest method of removing acne scars is probably laser resurfacing. This is a form of dermabrasion where a special laser safely, easily and with minimal pain removes the top layer of skin. Although any medical procedure carries some risk, laser resurfacing is very precise and the risk is usually minimal. You will probably require several laser resurfacing treatments for the best effects, depending on the amount and severity of your acne scars. Phototherapy is another method of removing acne scars that is even less invasive. In this method, a special wavelength of light is shone on the skin. This wavelength seems to have restorative properties and reduces the appearance of acne scars.

Acne Removal for Pimples

Pimples are not a candidate for acne removal. The acne in a pimple has not broken the surface of the skin, but resides beneath a red raised bump. There is no safe way to remove these bumps, and to attempt to do so will likely result in acne scars. Popping, squeezing or picking a pimple is also more likely to result in scarring than anything else. If a pimple has a swollen, white head and seems ready to burst, you can lance it with a sterile needle or apply heat until it bursts and quickly clean and disinfect the area. Otherwise, leave your pimples alone. To get rid of pimples, your best bet is to find an acne solution containing benzoyl peroxide. Consistent use of benzoyl peroxide will kill acne causing bacteria and unclog pores, reducing current pimples and preventing new ones from forming.
